About Me!

The big day... <3
Hello! My name is Nicole Talley and I am a senior at ASU. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. I’m not much of a small town girl…. I enjoy city life- especially Chicago! I got married this summer at River Hills country club on Lake Wylie. I originally started out as an Interior Design major. I knew something wasn’t right, so I decided to follow my life long dream of becoming a teacher. I am moving to Wilmington this December for my student teaching. I hope to live there and start my career as a teacher. I would also like to have a masters in Curriculum and Instruction in the next few years. One step at a time…
What I like:
Music
Music has influenced my life in a way that’s hard for me to explain in full. I have been a music director for ASU’s only co-ed a cappella singing group since I was a baby freshman. I take popular songs from the 80′s, 90′s and today and arrange them for voices. I try to make the arrangement sound exactly like the original song. I will then teach it to the other members of the group- who are also my best friends. We use cool syllables to imitate certain intruments from that song. It’s a very interesting art form. Our group is called “Lost in Sound”. I can’t tell you how much it means to me. (It’s also where I met Eric, my husband!)

Animals
I am a HUGE fan of animals. Any kind! Eric and I have 2 kitties, Daisy (2 years old) and Lily (8 months old). They are so sweet. Lily likes to sleep in the sink… while Daisy follows me around like a lost puppy. Speaking of puppies, we also have 1 dog that we rescued as a puppy from the Humane Society, Shyloh. She is a little over a year old. She is CRAZY. Pitbull- Terrier mix. She is exactly like Marly from Marly and Me. It’s scary how alike they are. She actually ate the inside of a car door once..

Flowers
I am obsessed with flowers…all kinds. Can’t get enough. Oh and I love taking pictures of flowers too.

Family
I have one sister, Madison. She is 16 years old and just got her license. I love her very much. People say we look a lot alike. My own uncle can’t even tell us apart. I have a HUGE family. I grew up with all of my cousins and we are all best friends. One of my favorite things are family get-togethers. We are all pretty crazy around eachother. I wouldn’t be who I am today if I didn’t have them. I have a new family now, the Talleys. I have grown very close with them. I have 2 brothers (in-laws) now! Some people may say I’m too young to be married….but sometimes you just know when things are supposed to be. Eric makes me a better person everyday and he pushes me to be everything I hope to be in life. I love him very much

Teaching
From the time I was a little girl, I wanted to be a teacher. Like I said, I grew up with a lot of cousins, and we liked playing school. I was always the teacher. Once I was in high school, I dropped that dream because I was afraid it wouldn’t make any money. In college, I pursued Interior Design and Pre-Med majors. Something was always missing. Once I started teaching music to my A Cappella group, it rekindled my passion for teaching. I switched my major to Elementary ed, took summer classes to catch up, worked my butt off, and here I am….right on time to graduate! I love teaching and feel like it will make me very happy. I don’t care about the money. My happiness isn’t worth any amount.

What I look Like:
I am 5’5 and have Aquamarine eyes.
I have short dark chestnut hair (recently got it cut! I’ve never had it this short!I was going for the “Katie Holmes Look”)
my skin is olive-tan.That’s about it!

me!
What Dislike:
There are a few certain things that I very much dislike.
Smoking:
It makes me furious when I have to breathe in second hand smoke. It’s rude and disgusting and not to mention unfair! I shouldn’t have to breathe in harmful chemicals on my way to class everyday. It’s one thing if you choose to hang out with smokers, but sometimes there is no way to avoid secondhand smoke. I can only hold my breathe for so long. Its even worse because we now have so much knowledge on cigarettes and their harmful effects on the human body…especially second hand smoke! Gross.

You probably shouldn't smoke around me...
Hunting:
How can people hunt innocent animals for fun? How is it fun to watch a defenseless creature die for no reason? This is one of my all-time DISlikes. If you’re not trying feed yourself or your family, its pointless. What I hate even more is when people hang the animal heads on the wall. Yeah, that’s real nice. I should probably stop there….

you probably shouldn't ask me to go hunting either.
Squash:
I love all food, except for squash. I am really not a picky eater at all, but I wont touch squash. I had a bad experience when I was younger. The name alone makes me sick!

Yuck!
What I Act Like:
I am a very easy going girl, down to earth girl, and easy to get along with but occasionally get stressed out by schoolwork. Lately, I’ve become more opinionated but tend to keep those opinions pretty quiet as to not offend anyone. I am most definitely a people-pleaser! I try my best to be polite to everyone all of the time. I am very determined, but some might call it stubborn! I am very sentimental about things, especially my family. I am compassionalte about a lot of things: children, animals, and people in general. I am a bit of a nerd…I love history, biology, atatomy and physiology. I love the History channel and discovery channel but try to keep that one a secret! I love eating healthy foods and trying new things. I also have a bit of a sweet tooth! I am a little OCD about things and love organization, but at the same time will keep my room a mess. Atleast I know where things are. I hope to keep some of these characteristics as I get older, and hope to lose the bad ones along the way.

Nicole,
Your ‘About Me’ section is great! I love your photographs. Especially the one from your wedding. As I mentioned in class, your dress is gorgeous! You look stunning and not to mention so very much in love. Your pets are adorable. I’m not a big cat person, but I’ve got to admit, Lily curled up in the sink is pretty cute. I noticed we have a few dislikes in common; smoking and mounted animal heads are two of my least favorite things! Squash, on the other hand…come on, give it another try! By the way, I’d love to hear your a’capella group perform sometime. My boyfriend’s dad sings barbershop so I’m all about some harmonizing!
